It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of one of our own, Ronald “Ronnie” Ahalt.

For more than five decades, Ronnie exemplified what it truly meant to be a volunteer. Joining our company in 1974, he dedicated his life to serving others and strengthening this organization for generations to come. His unwavering commitment, selfless leadership, and love for the fire service helped shape the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company into what it is today.

Throughout his remarkable years of service, Ronnie proudly served as a Board of Director from 1979–2001, held the rank of fire Lieutenant from 1986–1997, served as Vice President from 2001–2024, became a Life Member in 1998, and was proudly inducted into the Frederick County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services Hall of Fame in 2024.

Ronnie’s heart was always with this department. He believed in serving without hesitation, leading by example, and always putting the community and his fellow members first. His wisdom, dedication, and quiet strength paved the way for countless volunteers who followed in his footsteps.

His impact cannot be measured by the titles he held alone, but by the lives he touched, the traditions he helped build, and the legacy he leaves behind. The foundation of this company is stronger because of Ronnie. His influence will continue to be felt for years to come.

Today, we mourn the loss of a beloved friend, mentor, and someone who lived with purpose, honor, and an unwavering heart of a volunteer.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

We ask at this time that you please keep Ronnie’s family, friends, and his Company 20 family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Ronnie. We’ll take it from here.
